Big Squeegee Laminator

The Big Squeegee Laminator is primarily used to laminate and mount your printed graphics to a substrate. The front edge of the laminator is covered with a replaceable silk ribbon which reduces silvering after laminating.

Mounting a print with the Big Squeegee is fast, easy, and effective. First, you will peel off 1-2" of the release liner from the back of the print. Apply the exposed adhesive to the edge of the board you are mounting to. While holding the print with one hand, hold the laminator at a 35 to 45 degree angle with the other and "squeegee" the print onto the board. (Note: For prints larger than 48", we recommend using two people.) As you move the laminator across the graphic and board, the release liner will peel off resulting in a smooth, bubble-free mounted print.

Laminating is just as easy. Remove the first 1-2" of release liner from the vinyl and apply it to the edge of the graphic. The graphic does not have to be mounted on a board to be laminated. Apply the vinyl to the edge of the graphic and hold the vinyl with one hand. With the other hand, hold the laminator at a 35 to 45 degree angle and push the vinyl across the graphic. As you push, the release liner will be removed. When pushing, apply slight pressure toward the application point, but not downward as this will result in bubbles in the lamination. You have the option of pre-cutting the vinyl to the size of your print or you can leave the vinyl on the roll. If you decide to leave the vinyl on the roll, you will place the roll on top of the laminator before you push the Big Squeegee across the print. As you laminate, the roll will spin and the release liner will be removed. You can also place the roll in front of the squeegee. As with all pressure sensitive laminating, you may see "silvering," which is caused by incomplete adhesion to the print. This is normal and should go away after 24 hours. The silk edge of the Big Squeegee Laminator will reduce much of the silvering.

Pressure sensitive films with kraft paper-type release liners work best with the Big Squeegee. In the event that the release liner does not peel away as the laminator is moved across the graphic, gently pull the release liner in the direction that the squeegee is moving. Avoid pulling up on the release liner as this decreases pressure on the Laminator.
